Work it Out

Let’ts talk about working out shall we?
I have slowly but surely been getting back into my workout routine. I get emails asking about my workout routine so I thought I would share my tried and true routines.
I have a love/hate relationship with Jillian Michael’s DVDs. I love them because I have never completed one of her DVDs without amazing results and I “hate” them because boy do they make you sore! I have completed the 30 day shred 5 or 6 times, but my favorite is her Killer Abs DVD. I actually did this DVD 2 months prior to me getting pregnant and it didn’t just work out my ABs, it thinned out my legs and arms too. It is a tough DVD so you have been warned. I am currently getting back into this DVD and still swear that level 2 is the hardest of the 3 levels. I think even my hands are sore 🙂
I have been a “runner” for about 11 years now. I was hard core into it 5-6 years ago running 7-13 miles a day. Now I run intervals 4 days a week, which adds up to about 3-5 miles.  I slacked off quite a bit the last few month of my pregnancy, so I am slowly getting back into this routine. Below is my typical interval routine.
1 – 5(minutes) brisk walk at 5.0

6-7- jog at 5.5
7-8 – run at 6.5-6.8
8-9 – jog at 5.5
9-10 – run at 6.5-7.0
10-11- brisk walk at 5.0
11-12 – run 6.5-7.0
12-13 – brisk walk at 5.0
13-14 – run at 6.5-7.0
14-15 – jog at 5.5
My incline is set at 1-2% and I do a 5 min warm up and cool down
I sometimes throw some sprints at 7.5-9.0.  I do intervals for 45 min to an hour. Intervals help to improve oxygen delivery to the muscles. The more oxygen  delivered to your muscles, the faster and the further you will be able to run, which means MORE CALORIES BURNED!  Incorporating interval running into your routine will help you become a stronger faster runner and it does help eliminate boredom on a treadmill.
I do a lot of my workouts at home, but I still like to have cute gear to wear. I have a few “go to” places to get my workout clothes, so I thought I would share them with you all.

First up JCP! I always find the cutest pieces here and they are always on sale. I have found that my JCP pieces have held up through the numerous washes and they also fit comfortable. Not to mention, they have the best colors! I got the cutest leopard sports bra recently, and of course its not online, but be sure to check your stores locally for it! Below are a few of my favorites.

Next is Target. I always check out the sale section in the workout section at Target. It seems like they are constantly putting pieces on sale. I always go to Target for basic sports bras and cute jackets.
Next is Old Navy. Walking into old navy last night is what inspired me to do this post. Right as we walked into the store, the activewear was front and center. I have a hard time finding workout pants that are long enough until I discovered that Old Navy carries their activewear in tall! I also love getting fun tanks from Old Navy.
Last, I shop at Victoria’s Secret, Lululemon and Juicy Couture on occasion to get a fun piece. I have listed below a few of my favorite fun sports bras.
If you have any questions about my workout routine, or how any of the brands above fit, don’t hesitate to email me!
Have a great day!
