Jumping ahead a bit to our first day at Napa! Having some issues uploading the photos from our night in San fran…
Napa is hands down one of my favorite places to visit. We had the opportunity to review the gorgeous Andaz Napa hotel during our stay. From the moment we walked into the hotel, we were treated like royalty. The concierge team is personable, attentive, and incredibly nice. Prior to our visit we had discussed over email the types of wines we liked as well as restaurants, and they took care of every single reservation. We stayed in one of their large suites and the moment I walked into the room, it blew me away. Marble detailing, the most comfortable bed I have every laid on, a large spacious bathroom, a lounge area (with flat screens and a fireplace) and a beautiful view of downtown Napa. Needless to say, we made our selves right at home. After checking in, we got ready for our first big day of wine touring.
The Andaz Napa set us up with a driver from A Limo Excursion & Wine Tours. This was the first of many surprises during our stay. He drove up in a Mercedes limo bus. This thing was SICK! haha I never say that word, but that is the best word I can use to describe it. Brain Sayles grew up in Napa so he was was very educated and knew the grounds extremely well. He was also very personable and made us feel extremely special.
We started our day at Opus one. This vineyard is impeccable. The vines are well manicured and the architecture is exquisite. The terrace was the perfect spot to enjoy our first glass of wine which was a 2011 cabernet vintage. The view, as you will see below was beautiful. Opus one is a one glass tasting but that one glass is worth every single penny.
The next stop was Honig. When we arrived they already had a table set up for us. The owner came out and took us through multiple different types of wine. We even got to try a pink cabernet that they only make 30 cases of a year (it was delicious!). Mid way through our tasting he took us on a personal tour (An Andaz Napa surprise!). We got to try some grapes straight from the vines and also learned so many different things about the process of making the wine. An interesting tidbit is that this vineyard doesn’t have any chemicals in their vineyard. They have multiple hawks that take care of the rodents. I of course asked if they have names for them and they did not so I named them for the vineyard haha. If you ever end up at Honig, ask about Savvy and Cabby the hawks 😉 We were so impressed with our visit to Honig so we joined their wine club and took our favorite bottle with us to our next stop in Maui.
After this vineyard our driver whisked us away to a super exclusive resort, Auberge du Soleil, for lunch . He walked us straight in and out to the best seat on the balcony. We felt pretty special. The food of course was outstanding and once again the view blew me away!
Our last stop of the day was Plumpjack. This was our favorite vineyard from our honeymoon. Instead of doing the tasting, we purchased a bottle of wine and enjoyed a glass out on their terrace. It was the perfect ending to the perfect day! I highly recommend the Merlot at Plumpjack. It can be on the pricey side, but it is hands down one of my favorite wines.
I wore this gorgeous BCBG dress for our first day in Napa. I fell in LOVE with this dress. The structure and detailing is gorgeous. Be sure to check out an amazing collection of BCBG dresses here.
I carried this Gigi New York tote from the With Love from Kate collection our entire trip. It was a LIFE saver. The structure and size was perfect to store our wine purchases and an extra items we needed for our trip.
