Well the shower day finally came this past weekend. After about 3 months of planning, it was here! I thought of the theme. “Derby”, about 2 days after my sister got engaged haha, I know I am crazy. I just loved the idea of everywhere wearing hats and making it as southern as possible. I wanted it to have a personalized name so I included her sweet pup Winston in it and called it “Westhighland Stakes” My mom has a BEAUtiful backyard so the location was an easy choice and she even made it more gorgeous for the shower. I found a picture online that was my inspiration and went with it. I started with the dessert table. I got Nicole’s favorite orange rolls from crumpet tea room, a GORGeous rose cake from harps, turquoise and hot pink macaroons and last and certainly not least, the most perfect cookies every from the lovely Holly Thomas. I found a large horse at hobby lobby and dolled it up derby style as well. I added a chandelier candle holder and I also made the three tiered stated for the cookies with mirrors and candle holders. Next up was the favors. I bought a wine mason jar from a local place and figured out how to make them for the shower. I added a tea packet, sugar packet and a note that said “Sweet Tea is Southern Table Wine” They were a huge hit. Next up was the two tables outside. I found the cutest westie statues at hobby lobby and dolled them up with a bed of roses and bow ties. My mom painted pots for the flowers and she also made the turquoise napkins. Since the Belmont race was the same day as the shower, I made a booklet of all the horses in the big race for the place settings. I also spray painted the tiny horses silver for the settings. I added red chargers, doilies and the black and white damask table cloths and was done. I just loved how it turned out. Next we wanted to have a winners circle photograph spot so we got a wrought iron arch and my mom made the flower swags for it. I also found two mini chandeliers to hang from the top. This was one of my favorite touches. Last was the food table. My mom and sister made the delicious food- chicken salad sandwiches(the best), pasta salad, spinach dip and fruit salad. It looked beautiful and tasted wonderful! I also ordered my little sisters hat from Marley Lilly and my mom made it SUPER fab by adding the satin bow and flowers. My mom ALSO made Sadie Jane and her new pup Lucy fancy collars.
The shower turned out perfect. There were so many friends and family there to celebrate my little sister becoming a MRS. I cant believe she is getting married and in only 3 months! I really hope this is a day she will never forget. Love ya sis!
Now lets get to the gazillion pics : )
