How to Achieve the Perfect Winter Layered Look

It is finally getting cold which means, bring on the layers! This past Sunday I started browsing my favorite retailer, Nordstrom, for some new winter goodies. I found so many amazing pieces during my online shopping spree! Today I wanted to share my 5 go to pieces for the perfect winter layered look for a dressy and casual holiday event. With the simplest accessory change, you can instantly take your look from day to night… now lets get started.

1. The Leather Jacket

I have talked about a good leather jacket on my blog for YEARS. This is a must have piece for your closet. I have numerous colors and styles and refuse to get rid of any of them. My favorite leather jacket currently is THIS one by BLANKNYC. I have this jacket in green and the quality is amazing. I also have THIS suede jacket from Nordstrom and it is my favorite purchase this year. It now comes in 7 colors and I am dying for the light grey! Shop my tried and true favs below.

2. The Perfect Sweater

An oversized and fitted sweater. Layering with an oversized sweater can be a bit tricky. I always top them off with a fitted jacket to make them less bulky. THIS sweater by Topshop is the most gorgeous color and its super comfortable. The leather jacket gives the sweater a completely different look when paired together. I also styled THIS fitted sweater and boy is it flattering. It is perfectly fitted without feeling too tight.

3. OTK Boots

Ok this is an obvious one for me. I wear my OTK boots ALL THE TIME, especially in the winter. They are sleek, chic and sexy! Nordstrom by far has the best selection of OTK boots. I have tried on all of my favorites below and recommend them.

4. Winter Accessories

Y’all may be sick of seeing me in beanies, but I cant get enough of them. I used to feel so silly in them, but obviously I got over that haha. I love pairing the with dressy and casual looks in the winter. For my dressy look I paired a matching faux fur stole with my burgundy leather jacket. Monochromatic looks are my absolute favorite and look gorgeous with dark winter hues. Check out all of my favorite winter accessories below.

5. Jeans

While I love a good pair of distressed denim, non distressed are my favorite in the winter months. When wearing OTK boots, you want to make sure your jeans are nice and fitted. My absolute favorite pair of denim is THIS pair by Hudson. I picked them up on a trip to Nordstrom last month and fell in love with the fit. If you are looking for a budget friendly pair, THIS pair is my second favorite.

You may be thinking, Tara is crazy, she forgot the most important layer… A COAT. I promise, I am not crazy haha. I will be covering all my favorite coats on a post next week 😉
